En pointe (pointe) means "on the tips of the toes" and is a part of classical ballet technique made possible by specially reinforced shoes called pointe shoes. The technique developed from the desire for dancers to appear weightless and sylph-like and has evolved to enable dancers to dance on the tips of their toes for extended periods of time. The instructor will advise when someone is ready for pointe at age 11 and older and having the desired strength and technique.
Rhythmic, percussive dance form seen primarily in commercial venues such as Broadway shows, dance revues and music videos. Jazz evolves from a blend of European and African dance and was assimilated into its current form with Ballet and Modern Dance contributing to an elegant style and African Dance providing a rhythmic propulsion and percussive style.
This 45:00 class offers development in coordination, musical awareness and listening skills while aiding students to explore their natural creativity in a stress free environment. Students gain a sense of joy and accomplishment and an understanding of team work by interacting with their peers. By using games, props, toys and rhythm instruments the class offers creative ways to challenge the child both mentally and physically. These fun and imaginative classes introduce the fundamentals of dance while nurturing a child's agility and musicality. *Children two and a half will be accepted if they are toilet-trained.
Tap focuses on musical phrasing and the complexity of rhythms with less emphasis on
the visual partand more on the challenge of "making melodies" with the feet. Most often,
tap is danced to jazz based music such as Swing, Big Band, Bebop, Funk and Latin styles.

This class focuses on the popular, urban, youth culture style of dance, originating on the street that provides a funkier edge to the basic styles of dance. Moves will be taught to current "clean" music and old school favourites.
This dance style combines elements of ballet, modern, and jazz dance techniques. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals. The name lyrical comes from the word "lyrics" because dancers use the lyrics of a song to inspire them to do certain movements or show expression. The goal of a lyrical dancer is to use gesture, facial expression, and controlled movements in order to execute their movements and emotions fully. Besides emotional connection to music, lyrical dance typically encourages use of articulation, line, weight, and movement qualities.
The Song and Dance Company participates in local music festivals and competitions. They also entertain in different venues. Acceptance is by audition only.
Musical Theatre combines singing, dance and acting as practice to work the class to become a unit. The class uses these activities throughout the first term to create unison within the group. This is applied to the performance for the year end showcase. As the class works together each child develops the well rounded approach, known as "Triple Threat". Private vocal lessons at an additional cost are available to assist in becoming a solo "Triple Threat".
Acro combines Jazz dancing with the flexibility and technique of gymnastics. Dancers will learn basic floor acrobatics with modern jazz techniques. This class is geared towards the high energetic dancer who wants to tumble, dance and move, move, move. It is recommended that a jazz class be taken in addition to the acro.
